Bathroom Wall Lights

When planning to install bathroom wall lights, there are various things to consider before making a purchase and doing the installation. Some of those are the availability of daylight that does or does not enter the bathroom, where the lighting will go, and what types of lighting will be needed for certain areas of the bathroom. The ability to use natural daylight is not only environmentally friendly, but paired with the right lighting a bathroom can become a sanctuary of bright, balanced light.

As to what and where the lighting will go, there are three particular areas of the bathroom that need to be well lit. Those areas are the vanity, shower, and toilet. Now depending upon where the toilet is, will determine how much lighting is going to be needed. Most often the toilet is right beside the vanity, so typically bathroom lights over the mirror will be plenty. However, if the toilet is separated and in a room off by itself, then it will need its own lighting in the ceiling. Also needing lights from the ceiling will be the shower and tub area. These areas require special lighting so that they are capable of withstanding moisture and humidity.

Now in regards to vanity lighting, this is probably one of the most important areas of the bathroom. This is due to what takes place here, shaving, makeup, etc. Mirror lighting usually involves rows of bulbs or pot lights, yet many times the idea of wall lighting is overlooked. Sconce lighting can be placed on both sides of the vanities, or above if there isn’t any room on the sides of the mirror. Bathroom lighting is available in a wide variety of designs and colors, so completing the look and feel of the bathroom is quite easy. Generally when installing and mounting lights on the wall, they should be placed about 5 feet from the floor. Remember brighter is better, so go with bathroom wall lights that will not darken the room or make it feel small or closed in.
